Not enough people use this program.

The program stresses Privacy and encryption.

I found whatever I searched for in spite of the
amount of people not using it.

I used a proxy.

I searched only , and the results came up fast.
I found everything I searched for.

WEBSITE:
http://www.filetopia.org/home.htm

When I first logged on to it it had about 3000 people on it, a few
hours later only 2000.
There is no theme inside the program , it's just a program.
It has a webpage at the opening of the program but you can delete the
webpage from within your folder.

At this time I am unaware of spyware and there are no adware or
banners that I noticed.
It says on the download page.
" This program does not contain any kind of spyware. "

Is it decentralized ?
I'm afraid it is not.
It does not say it is.
And they do mention having a server outside of the US.

http://www.filetopia.org/index4.htm

Take a look for yourself. Read through their site.

It has many encryption options.
Does the encryption actually work ? I can only guess that it does.

It encrypts the stream going through the proxy.
You can manually adjust the encryption strength.

Proxy and bouncer are not the same thing.

Bouncer is referring to something else. Some other type of IP
diversion.
Somebody out there would have to host the bouncer for everyone to use.

Do not put your proxy settings in the bouncer fields. If you do it
never connects.

Can you resume ?
Unknown.

Can you preview ?
Unknown.

Can you tell real from fake ?
Unknown

It's still brand new to me. Real new to me. But not complicated to get
started right away.

Their message board has practically nobody using it.

PROBLEMS ? :

It allows for trade only. Your choice.

I call that a problem because I don't like trade only type stuff. But
that's only if you choose to do it.

Share Level ?
Unknown.

Need to use it more to find out more.

I could not agree more. Filetopia is the way forward if you want anonymous
file sharing.
Freenet and E5 are just not there for the mainstream user yet.

A massive move to Filetopia could be the kind backlas the recoding industy
needs.

I would love to try Filetopia, but I can't get it to start. It won't
"reserve nickname" or whatever. I have tried opening 443 in my
firewall to allow TCP connections, and then later UDP connections, and
neither works.

My firewall log says that the program is trying to connect to the
internet using port 443, which I've opened, so it should be able to
get out. I've closed and restarted the program.

Each time, it says it's "reserving nickname" or something, and the
progress bar starts, then it just stops, with no explanation. I've
gone into the program and changed the port to the 1214 one Kazaa uses,
which I have open from when I used to use that before I knew better,
and Filetopia still doesn't work.

When I try to connect, it keeps sending me back to this Verifying
Nickname step. I've tried a dozen different nicknames. What should I
do?

In options/ connection , it says " connection method " , I have it
set to " I am behind a firewall or proxy ".
And I have the auto connect checked.
Fired it up tonight, and it "resolved nickname" (or whatever) just
fine, without me changing anything. So, if other people have that
problem I guess the solution is to just try and logon again some other
time.

3,424 people online right now. Gotta start somewhere...I guess...

But, there is nothing objectionable with the actual software, it loads
up fast, seems to run pretty clean. Of three transfers, one started
immediately, the other two have been sitting for a few minutes and it
says, "Waiting." I wonder if "waiting" means "Queued?" If not, these
downloads will surely timeout soon.
